colour versions of trs-80 used motorola processors. before that they used Z80. I used to belong to the national trs-80 users group and earned my first IT income on them writing basic and assembler applications while still at school.

is that what you're thinking of?
if not then it must be the Commodore Pet which I also used (but preferred the Tandy)

They did indeed, but I'm thinking of an immensly popular machine (at least in the UK and USA) of the mid to late 80's that made the 'motorola xxxxx' CPU very well known indeed.

They used the same chip in an even more popular games console too...

I must have given the game away now!

I made my first IT related income on an Amstrad PCW 8512, it was a product database written in BASIC for one of my dad's friends

@Peter Kaye

Are you sure it wasn't the 8000S which definitely was the first Portable available in the UK in 1985 and was followed by both the 8000X and 8500X well at least here in the UK. I know because i had all of them, the 8000's where monsters and whilst the 8500X wasn't exactly small either it was a lot smaller than the the 8000's.

They used to make god awful dial-up modems amongst other things under the name of 'Lucent' too.

Did Alcatel not make satellites too.

As far as I know they also built the Turksat 1C satellite.

Marc, good point.

I was just going off what Wiki stated! I'm too young to go that far

I suspect that you are referring to the 68000 series of processor. This used in the Sega Megadrive as well as the Commodore Amiga and the good old Apple Mac.

I have no idea to be honest but if they do build satellites, I hope they provided a driver disk with them since you can't download the f*****g things off the internet for love nor money.
