There is no legal guss. As Masseur pointed out, it's not a legal concern. The reason you can't do it is probably more because SE didn't both giving us the function, not due to legal concerns. It's probably also to do with Sony not wanting SE to allow users to record off the radio because they want you to buy the CD instead!

speaking of recording radio - I just bought a Hi-MD minidisc recorder for 39 bucks - I used that to record radio via hpm-70

There should be either a Symbian or Java app out there which is able to record of radio. I don't buy this nonsense about copyright as the recording off radio will be bad. Can't see how anyone would want to share that.

I don't think java can't access the radio, there is no api for it.
