@Brick, Yea thanks i`ve spotted what was confusing me, the whole screen is touch as you say (and i thought) but i did read something & it is still confusing because with the flip closed the bit of screen showing is de activated BUT the keypad does actually touch the screen to dial so that part of the screen must still be touch sensitive, so thats what i read. as there is no other way for the keys to work.

3.) 3-band mobile phone with GPRS capabilities, FULL duplex speakerphone, Picture Caller ID, Bluetooth, IR
4.) Digital cam (640x480)
5.) Combined volume of ALL devices must be equal to or less than that of the P800.
6.) Price MUST be lower than the CHEAPEST P800 out on the market.
Then if they can find that... then by all means... don't buy the P800!!! Life is THAT simple.

@pachy - the way this screen works is precisely the same way like on R380s (which I own...it's amazing) - when the flip is open, entire screen is touch sensitive. When you close the flip, tiny switch in the flip hinge deactivates the upper screen touch sensitivity and re-formats the displayed text to vertical...this way it becomes sensitive only below the flip where the keys are touching it. Neat and effective. By the way - after 2 years of intense use (really intense), the R380s touchscreen remains unscratched or even blemished. It's amazingly hard. Phone's been dropped on hard surfaces, abused and over-used.
What I understand from reading about P800 is that the new screen is a further development over the previous display. It's even harder, smoother and practically scratchproof. I believe they're not kidding.
Quality.

I also have a R380 for 2 years.
One month ago, the touchscreen started to leak some blue
liquid. Yes blue !
So, some parts of the screen become unusable.
It is growing each day.
So in a few weeks it will be dead, and I will buy a P800 !

Only 800...80 africans die...but you still can take pictures of them with your p800 while whe starve to death and send it thru gprs to your friend in wealthy europe...only 800 euro..hmm you think so?

nice discussion, but i think the two thoughts dont contradict each other. indeed money that we spend on our phones can feed starving families, in fact as you pointed out the money we paid for dessert could have been put to better use by starving or sick children across the globe. africa isnt the only poor country, im from a poor country too but i dont agree that poor people die BECAUSE i bought an expensive phone. poor people die period-- if we give the money we spend for our phones to feed them today, then they just DIE ANOTHER DAY. someone said "the poor are always with us..." thats just the reality of it all.
how much is the P800 in your country anyway?
were still waiting for it here.
