SPV ? better then p800 u must be joking!
use both of them for 1 week and maybe even you might understend what we are trying to exlain u .
btw.. SPV takse only new application signed by Microsoft and Orange.. they "protect" customers of SPV to nott install any unknown software
) Battery life is joke BT none... apps sux recording of sound is sometime not recording even app. shows record mode... simply .. if u want spv type of phone i recommend you to wait.... or buy neo

The spv (sound picture video) is the new smart phone from orange that runs microsoft pocket pc. The only real differences between the phones are the processors. The spv suffers terrible slowdown not too dissimilar to the old t68 slow down problem. It is a very competent little phone and i was very impressed with it. Go to oranges website to find out more.

I have used an SPV for 2 weeks and was very impressed... It basically did what it said on the tin.
Now I will reserve judgement until I have used a P800 but it really has to be special to beat an SPV... one major sticking point I have is that the P800 does seem a bit on the large side but we shall see.
Especially seeing as the SPV can be had for FREE thats right not one penny on a new contract whereas by the looks of things we are talking over £250 on contract for P800....
For that extra 250 big ones it has to be something really special
!!

Actually, Ive had a go on both (pre release p800) and i would recommend both phones. P800 is good because of bluetooth and slightly faster running speed (spv runs at just over 1mhz?) But the spv is good because of its small size

OK OK Lets get it into perspective, what kind of idiot complains about a phones touch screen on the basis that it`s crap because 95% of phones dont have it. someone has to put it on a phone first, everyone may follow, was colour screens crap when 95% of phones did`nt have it ?????, And on the subject of screens i really MUST point something out, 65,000 is the mathematical potential of an SPV or an ipaq ETC, but VERY often you will never see anywhere near that number, in fact 4096 is way more than you will detect with your eyes on a screen that size, that is a silly thing to argue about.lets hope the SPV is a good seller & that it takes some of Nokias monsterous share of the market, all competition is good, i think an SPV will be good for people who want a uncomplicated link up with their pc, the p800 will be good for me because i want the latest thing in phone PDA`S to replace my phone & my PDA.

I attended a demo of MS .NET the other day and was subjected to a demo of the concept running on a PocketPC2003 device and an SPV.
The PPC2003 (O2 XDA I think it was) was very slow when setting up a voice call and the multitasking was also very slow (demoed the capabilities to multitask by writing a note while in the call). When the call was ended he went to the call list to show the integration between the apps (the note was visible next to the call just placed), but the note was empty - royal f**k up nmbr 1. Device left the stage quickly.
The SPV then....he starts out by saying that he does not know if the GPRS coverage is good and that he will be using 9.6 CSD (this is in a place where GPRS was practically **invented/made functional** and has been working very well for the last 2-3 years. Go figure...).
So the call starts to set up when the browser is invoked, and set up, and set up, and set up (one starts to realize that it takes far to long for it to even be because he is running in analog mode....he then starts to try to demo the multitasking cababilities to smooth over the long wait. What happens ? You are right, the call process blocks all other processes so exit that device also....
The SPV uses an ARM9 (same as P800) and a Texas OMAP processor for signalling. But PocketPC does not seem to be a sufficently realtime OS and the signalling SW in the SPV does seem to leave some things to be desired....
My 2 Öre of input for today
But give it 2 or 3 more years....
