Because
1) It was branded so you can imagine the wait
2) I was within my 14 day returns so thought why not
3) The battery cover and rear cover was squeaky
4) I could NOT put up with that crap for however long it takes.

Hi all,
I just really don't get this
"why don't you wait for an update"
As why should anyone have to do that? Firstly just how long will it take for the first update 2-3 months and then what happens if it doesn't do what you expect you are stuck with a phone on a contract for how long.
The phone needs to work with virtually no bugs out the box stop letting all manufacturers get away with this and it will stop keep on accepting it as a normal practice and basically you will get what you deserve.
Really don't you all think it's about time we showed the manufacturers that when we buy a new device we expect to work as advertised and if it doesn't we send it back. If enough people did this it would force the manufacturers to engage proper testing and quality control before releasing a device to the paying public.

coxy i mean instead of getting a different phone after returning yours why not wiat for the FW update, see what people say, then maybe there will be better batches of build quality so go back to o2 for a different k850i and test in shop for best build quality

Hi AL3X,
No problem i was just trying to put across that personally i think this is one of the things currently wrong with us as consumers for putting up and accepting this wait for new firmware mentality and some thing that only the consumer can change.
As IMO to many manufacturers now see this as an acceptable practice and i don't, i believe the time to iron out the bugs is pre release not after. Just wish i could make everyone send ther device back and stop the manufacturers from taking the mickey out of their paying customers.
It never used t be like this and yes i admit our devices have become more complex but that really isn't a justifiable reason IMO. None of these devices are cheap even if free on contract the contracts cost us a lot of money, my 2008 campaign is to try and change this practice from being acceptable although i doubt it will be successful as to many of us are just to eager for our new all singing and dancing device to dare send it back.

TBH after all i said i actually do agree with you, I wanted to buy a k850i as soon as it came out but im forcing myself to wait as for newer batches and second FW just so i dont have to piss about returning faulty onesalthough i do really like the phone, same with w580i I would have bought that by now but all the cracking keypad and wobbly sliders has put me off alltogether
