Lets not forget that most people buying these phones are not esato members. Many will not know that autofocus even exists on mobile phones, many will only buy them coz they look cool, many will just want a 3.2 MP (W890i) cam no matter how well featured it is. I believe this type of customer is the one SE is aiming to please. They don't make phones just for esato members!

Arunvc...

Is singapore like america where everyone buys phones on contracts only through their 'carrier' and no one buys sim free phones at all?

Where I live sim free, free phones on contract and pay as you go phones sell lots for people that dont want or need high end flashy phones. Dont forget that the best selling phone worldwide was the nokia 1100, not an se p1i, k850i or a nokia N95. There is a huge niche for mid and even low range phones, for example the k660i will do really well in the uk. Firstly compared to k850i prices it should be cheap to free on all contracts of £20 a month upwards, whereas k850i is only free over £30 per month. There is a huge number of customers on low cost tariffs that still want free phones, k660i should fit into that market perfectly, at least maybe a few months after its release.

some people dont want fancy features but a nice phone, and thats why SE makes these products

Do SE has to worry about this "some people".As far it goes these phone will only satisify very few customers, not very tempting.

7.3+1.5=8.8

By Subtracting customers who dont like this phone,or dont want to upgrade

By average mean square 4.4% (est)

By adding new customers for phone 1% (est)

There is probability that Totallly 5.4% of people may buy this phone.

I would conclude nothing out of box, a flash and af or atleast AF have would have made it somewhat ok.

Still theres are concerns about picture quality with slimmer phones and also the loud speaker and music quality.

I think SE is not downgrading its portfolio.. if some buddy thinks in this way then that person is quite wrong. its necessary for companies to introduce low-end means budget phones and high-end means expensive and hi-fi fones. Because company need to cater every group of people, some people can afford high-end and some can't afford, so there should be low-end fones so that they can also enjoy company's product with some features.

maybe SE should make all the phone with bravia screen (2.7in as in japan phone)...all come with Wifi g ...all come with 5megapixel optical zoom....all come with stereo speaker.

all come with premium price tag meaning they don't need to cater the low and middle income group until they lost all their business just like what they used to be...duringEricsson time ...which maybe in the ends having SE management focus on getting a new partner or close down the company

maybe people who don't have enough $ like me shouldn't own a SE phone?

Completely agree with Muhummad-Oli, Bhavv, Mobin18 etc.

The low-mid range phones cater for the people on PAYG & those who want low contracts (£15-£25pm) i.e. providing phones catering for all budgets & needs. I'm sure we can all remember our first phone? (prob a brick of a PAYG phone in your early teens?) These low-mid range phones provide a stepping stone, first rung of the ladder and all that, remember we'll all own a few vauxhalls before we get that ferrari
