The iphone is decent but having used it, I think its more about the flashy looks than actual usability. If you don't mind the lack of a hardware keypad, then go for it, but the p1i offers a lot more than an iphne

Mobilemodman, I never said to get the iPhone and keep the P1i I said get the iPod Touch, and keep the P1i. Hehehehe...

I would NEVER get the iPhone... even if I got one as a gift, I'd sell it and get the iPod touch instead.

Texting on the iPhone... hmmm... how do I describe it without using profanity? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.... actually, even entering text on the iPod touch requires the use of profanity. But it's less annoying since if you're using the iPod Touch, it really isn't a critical task.

The main thing that annoys me the most about text input on the iPhone, is actually the one thing Apple is proud of... the auto-correct. It's very annoying because for the first few weeks of using it... you're spending 3-4x the amount of time correcting the auto-correct until the stupid software "learns" your typing habits. This is not the same feature that auto-completes the word... this is the software that "guesses" whether or not a key-press is valid or accidental. Having the keys so small, the iPhone has an algorithm that tries (TRIES being the key word) to guess if your finger pressed the "T" or the "R" key if you happen to hit both. This feature is critical to a touchscreen phone that isn't stylus dependent... BUT the thing can't seem to guess right. The MOST annoying mistakes this stupid software makes is the "I" and "O" predictions since both these vowels can appear next to the same consonants.

"A" for effort... "F" for actual execution.

hahha, I tot you had made a typo by saying itouch instead of iphone, anyway the reason im not getting the itouch is simply because i dont want to be carrying to gadgets around, plus the itouch is almost the same price as an iphone off ebay, it makes more sense to buy the iphone, in which u get the camera, and calling capabilities aswell, thanks for the feedback regarding the keyboard, the thing about reviews imo is that everyone has their own opinion, so ive decided the only way to find out is to actually try it out, if it isnt the gadget for me, i'll simply sell it off, the iphones on ebay are selling like hotcakes here in australia, especially because of the approaching christmas season, everyone seems to want to get thier hands on one, so if its not for me, i'll just sell it off, no hassles.

I was just wondering where all these "w960 camera is better then the p1i" comments are coming from. Is the quality better ont he 960? Or are we just saying that because the w960 probably wont have the green tint?

That's a much better plan. My personal feeling on the iPhone keyboard is that it's great in the showroom and great to watch on Apple's site... but you really have to use it everyday for you to realize whether or not it's something you can live with.

I feel the same towards "test driving" cars. They almost always drive well... then after a month of owning a car... that's when all the quirks start popping up that didn't show up during the test-drive.

**add'l comments... I've observed that the people in the Phil who bought the iPhone, and actually kept it after 1 week, aren't really data/text heavy users. These are mostly casual users, kids, or just people who don't really use their iPhone for work. This is just an observation, not a formal survey**

Right now, in the Phil... there's a flood of "slightly used" iPhone for sale on ebay.ph and all the mac forums. so many are selling 1 week, 1 month old iPhone with the "reason for selling: need the cash"

I had the iphone & now I sold it & kept the P1. The only thing I liked is its classy looks though bigger than the P1. Regarding the specs, the P1 is superior. After all it depends on what u'll be using in the phone. I didn't like for example the iphone's input method compared to the handwriting recognition...

well, after reading a few reviews about the iphone, it does seems somewhat limited compared to the P1, hate the non-removable battery, no hardware buttons, most of it is just visually pleasing, but the P1 does offer more wen u come to think of it. And also the iphone's price is as catchy as the phone is. I ges i'll wait for the good old SE walkman W960 , or hopefully flash my p1 into a W960. Thanks for the feedback guys!

I'm not a psychologist but if you asking this, in your heart you already choose the P1 in favour of the iPhone.
It's your mind that's the problem. Follow your heart and you will be fine.
