Mine shows the operation failed message when I try to go into Games, Applications and when I try to install new Java files. Also, SenseMe no longer opens. I tried a master reset, and it did nothing so I'm going to take it to a Telstra shop and see what they say.

I also have a friend that cannot access her messaging without getting the same error message.

Has anyone fixed this with SEUS?

Thanks.

My wife's phone did this - her inbox, sent items, new message etc suddenly returned "operation failed". She had the Vodafone branded version.

We didn't try a master reset, but we did try SEUS, since I suspected there was newer firmware anyway - happily I was right, it updated, and after that the problem was gone - but so were all her messages. On the plus side, I don't think she lost anything else.

It's a big fault that shouldn't be present on any SE phone, let alone practically all of them - shame on SE. If it happens again (meaning the bug clearly hasn't been fixed, despite the update) then we'll be taking it back I think - it's not acceptable.

We done a back up on all her media and contacts and then done a master reset which sorted it out but she was a bit upset that she lost all of her messages.

I thought SEUS would save her messages after updating but it looks like it wouldn't have made a difference.

It looks as if the message database gets corrupted in some way, and that's why they can't be retrieved - it wouldn't back up my wife's either. In fact I seem to remember the option was suspiciously absent in the PC suite, as if the phone was reporting there were no messages (or in other words, "Operation Failed").

Doing the update - or resetting, or just reinstalling the firmware - probably just recreates the message index, starting at 0 again.

Yeah, it sounds like the messaging files have to be rewritten completely. I made sure my messages are automatically saved to my mem card after this.

Anyone had any luck fixing this problem without sending it back to SE yet? I'm waiting on this SETool2 Box for K850i stuff to sort itself out so hopefully we can flash newer phones soon and I'll be able to use my phone properly again.
