If nokia don't have another N76 incident with lousy firmware and easy of paint peeling....it seem like a very good phone in spec. I mean N82.

But anyway I just feel that most phone being launched to market these days is hard to avoid from funny defect....whether it is hardware or software.

hope N82 get a good price which push K850 to lower pricing soon...since I won't change my preferred brand as I mean losing a power point at my house and work place for a nokia phone.

^^ A newcomer for the Elite 5MP group: as expected this thread will be born thereafter, then SE haters will infest this thread and talk about the issues on K850 - as the usual thing, History repeats itself

Dogmann:

are you sure K850 is RIP?

If Nokia has improved on the in-camera noise reduction and sharpening AND it is true what they are saying about low-light sensitivity then YES I would expect the N82 to kick the K850's buttocks! And in addition to this you have near DVD-quality video recording, Symbian S60 operating system and built-in GPS.

If Nokia doesn't screw up YET AGAIN on the software part of the camera. It is ironic that the N95 has a bigger image sensor than the K850 (1/2.5" Micron MT9P001 vs 1/2.8" Sony IMX020) but produces pictures everyone except the most fanatic Nokia groupies would agree are inferior to what the K850 produces.

^^ Sensor is still weak for a very high-spec'd camera smartphone N82, anyway if they use CCD sensor, their battery issue would be more of a major disaster! if only K850 uses CCD then i bet there will be no issue smoking out that N95 beats K850 image quality wise unless nokia could do their trick again to process it like a perfect sharp and noise free shots novice photographers liked to see and said this is better than the CCD K850!

well, considering all the bugs found in K850i and in addition, it's a pity the SE engineer can make a better camera protection. imo, K850i isn't ready to be in the market

^^ Or should not be in the market at all. since the supposed K850 successor has been cancelled because of it's delay features a CCD sensor while maintaining the same 5mp resolution

Want so see sample photos from the N82? Go here!

Actually quite good. Look at this for example:

Beats both the N95 and the K850, IMHO. And good enough for posting at full size also, which is something most embarrassed K850 owners would never do...

The above photo is telling me two things:

1. I bought the TyTN II a few weeks ago and promised my wife that I will keep it at least one year. By that time the N82 should be pretty reasonable in price

2. I'm hungry and it's almost lunch time

Elite? Since when the K850 is elite? It's just a 'nice' java phone and a mediocre camera-phone at best, one task it was meant to do well, it fails at. On the other hand, the 'N series' is on a total different level. Combining the latest and greatest from a S60 smartphone platform, WIFI, GPS and now even a XENON flash, all that in the palm of your hand and about the same size of a regular java SE K850. That my friend is ELITE!

I agree with dogmann - RIP K850i, the little phone that could be ...
