What concerns me more is I am sure it's getting worse, as the bottom left (of the top part) did not rattle/tap when I got it, does now.

Just to let everyone know this rattle is not normal, just had a look with a friends W910 and that doesn't rattle at all.

Nope I didn't, it was like this when I received and it has got worse.

Being returned for repair tomorrow as I am over the 14 day swap period

3 day turnaround on repair, but with weekend and new year that becomes Wednesday...

So I will post back then.

I don't have a rattle when I slide my w910 open, however the top part does wobble very slightly up and down when it's closed and open.

Tap the C button area when the phone is open, my phone makes a physical tapping sound in that area where the top part of the slide hits the bottom part... Very annoying, you can see that there is a larger gap (when open) between the top and bottom parts of the slide on the right side.

BTW my phone was returned with no fault found, it's going back for repair Wednesday - but I don't hold my breath....

Doubt the repair centre understand the problem.
