Here are some other observations.

- GPS is very fast to lock on from cold. I am quite surprise this morning as I start the map and before I even put in my car's dash holder, the gps is already lock on. Anyone got any info whether it is the same chip as used in N95? Also, there is a free 3 months (instead of 3 days) subscription to navigation for Nokia Map for those who are interested (not that I am ). Not sure whether it applies to your region.
- Screen color is more saturated than on N95 slightly faded. N95 screen is slight bluish tone but N82 is more red/yellow tone.
- Phone call sound on handset has less noise compared to N95. N95 has piercing kind of sound whereas N82 has a softer sound.
- USB connector on the side is not so good as it gets in the way of using the phone when it is connected. But 3.5mm jack at the top is more convenient.
- Xenon flash is very strong. In complete darkness, you can get the proper color to come out unlike N95 where it is more bluish/purplish. I think this is the only strong point (other than much cheaper price) to get N82 over N95-8Gb.
- UI auto-rotation works only if you set your phone near parallel to Y-axis and turn the phone. Funny thing is, the rotation dont work on stand-by screen.
- Require less force to open the camera cover release compared to N95. There may be more chance of accidental opening (consolation is the release is horizontal so putting in and pulling out from tight jeans may not be an issue) And the release is smaller size so it is less easy to find than the one on the N95.
- UI/OS wise is exact identical to N95-8G except screensaver is horizontal
- Only Lousy ringtones are included.
- Speakers loudness seems the same as N95. Sound seems to be sharper than N95. On the whole should be loud enough for most purpose.

i want to ask you to do a battery test for me when you can

This will take time to do. will report back later.
From initial impression, it is very good (certainly quite a lot better than N95).

Questions:
1. Are they any camera keypad shortcuts?
2. CAN you force an EDGE/GPRS connection only and not 3G? (screenshot please)?

Camera keypad shortcuts like those on K850? Nope. Camera UI is the same as the one on N95 / N95-8G.

Force EDGE/GPRS? Not sure what you mean. You can set the mode to "GSM" to totally disregard to connect to 3G. If you are connected to 3G network, I dont think (not 100%) you can force GPRS/EDGE.

did u get used to the keypad? sadly the whole fone is plastic, at lesat some aparts could be metal ( even 6233 deserved it ) as i see it offers the "best" pic quality among nokia cz branded fones

The front looks metallic enough with its shining silver. I prefer good old quality plastic over metal as long as it dont creaks or scratch easily. I am starting to get use to the keypad. Having said that, it is harder to type than on N95 brilliant keypad.

If N82 has the same chip as N95, then I can only speculate the position of gps chip in the N82 is more condusive for picking up signal.

- Battery Life: I would say it is about 30% better than N95-1 (v20). I am getting a full 2 days (48 hrs) continuous moderate use ~1.5hrs calls, 20-30 photos, 20-30 min wifi, 1 hr of music and about 45 min using other phone functions.
- Auto-rotate works for most part of UI except the standby (which is always portrait).
- Keypad. After some time with it, I find it quite good now. Compared to N95, I find that it is more accurate to press the key. Typing speed is slightly slower tho as the keys are stiffer so you need more force to press.
- Performance is also slightly better than N95-1 (v20). Menu/Gallery now has no noticeable lag.
- After more than a week of constant use, the great build quality is holding out. Casing is still as solid as on the day I got it.
- Stability is also very good. There is not a single self-reboot or hang.
- Photo has a slightly warmer color than N95. This is more noticeable in indoor/low light conditions. Indoor lit shots are also better than N95 with more accurate color.

Got my n82 last weekend and must say only let down is that I envy the size of the screen as in my original n95. The n82 is sweet. never had any probs with the keypad very tresponsive and easy to use. build quality is excellent and multitasking is wicked. Would have preferred if the front of the phone was made with same material as the back as seeing the current front is a finger print magnet. I'm not very good with reviews but just have to say loving this phone. Still considering getting the n95-8gb version for the screen size though.

Hows the d-pad on N82? It looks like the one on N81 which is pretty stiff but so solid. Have you tried the touchsensetive navi-wheel in Music Player and Gallery? Find it realy great on my N81, kind of reminds me of an i-Pod.

Hi All,

- Xenon flash cannot be used as torchlight. If you want to use as a torch, then you have to make to do with using the LCD screen. There are software which turn the LCD screen to white (at highest brightness). Pretty effective within short distance.

- D-pad is not touch sensitive like N81. In fact it is not stiff like N81 but rather loose. Slight pressure will cause movement. I suspect N82 d-pad incorporates pressure sensitive sensor instead of touch sensitive one, but at the moment Nokia did not activate this capability in the N82. (Hopefully, Nokia will release an API for developers later on)

- I find the music player is very good (comparable to standalone player - at least better than my ipod shuffle ). But you must get a better pair of headset. The bundled one is crap. The volume is also more than enough. I think most people (except the most discerning audiophile) would be satisfied with the quality of the music.
