yeah that's what i had to do too. Turn the phone of and use an old dry toothbrush. If it's very dirty carefully apply a little cooking knife to "scratch" the dirt out. Does it charge with the normal charger?

I had the exact same problem. Very annoying. I reinstalled the sony ericsson pc suite, and now it works again... Hope you get it to work!
