Shouldn't any waterproof camera phone (including SE FOMA) be able to do this anyway? I remember reading a review of a waterproof CDMA phone on Verizon and the reviewer said it could take pictures underwater.

Why would anybody want to try to design let alone take a camera phone under water?

Sony Ericsson cant even design a camera phone that keeps dust out or works correctly 100% of the time let alone be water proof.

If I was under water the last thing on my mind would be trying to use a phone & if I really wanted to take pictures under water I would use one of the many proper under water cameras that are already available.

It'd be an interesting device to see go into production.. not saying I would buy it but there are some people I know that would go and buy it..

Plus would be creating an entire new market for customers with this device and that's going to boost their profits.

Though NOT a camfone, but - Olympus has already made this possible with their Digicams (forgot the model though . . .).

If this does happen . . . it will really take a loooot of TESTING to do, as you MUST also or CAN/MUST be able do the ff: underwater :

1. Send SMS/MMS

2. Navigate GPS (fo GPS-capable fones)

3. Listen to the RADIO/ play: music-files or even watch videos . . .

4. Make Calls

So long as the phone can 'see' the satellite, it has a GPS lock..

s for listening to music... it's probably going to be crap. Unless it's going to be likeTHIS coming out of headphones and not the built in speaker.

A waterproof keypad wouldn't be too challenging, didn't use to make a waterproof device?

As for calls.. waterproofing of the mic. and speakers might be an issue..

I am really wondering NOW . . . HOW this new breakthrough will FAIR with the meticulous mobile-phone users . . . I mean, imagine that fones can easily acquire BUGS during it's initial release in the market . . . and that's being used on LAND, now what more if you BRING those BUGS - underwater !

I can already see people replacing their phones every other week by finding a way to let in water and claiming a new one because of a 'manufacturing defect.'

I would rather Sony Ericsson not waste money on making a phone that works under water & spend it on trying to get back to the glory days of a couple of years back when it made real cutting edge decent phones that had great picture taking ability & worked pefectly well on dry land.

A real K750 / W800 successor with a decent 5mp camera & a bigger size memory card support would make most people happy.
