TT6 should work fast, but unfortunately they must have messed up the code, and on UIQ3 the refresh rate is quite slow, even slower than UIQ 2.1!
What is interesting is that TT6 doesn't seem to be using processor speed (SwissMgr), so I believe is a problem of bad code implementation.
The only advantage I can see on this behaviour is that it should spend a lot less battery than if the refresh was faster...

My P1i came with a 0.5 Gb m2 with TomTom6 already installed!

@lau, have you tried a different GPS unit. I found my old one didn't like my P990, slow refreshes with all GPS software so I got myself a SirfIII and it works fine.

Mine runs with a CPIT GP-27 http://www.cpit.com/en/GP-27.html

Seems to be running OK... - it's the first sat-nav I've had so don't have anything to compare it against though - but there doesn't seem to be any delay...

@artesea

Interesting... you made me remember one thing:
I'm using bluetooth powersaving and a low baudrate (I think).
Do you think any of these influence the Tom Tom refresh rate?
(I can't test it right now)

I have both wayfinder and Tomtom on my P1i and tomtom is excellent.

I'm am using a receiver with the latest 51 channel MTK chipset which is considered far better than sirfstar chipset.

Its accuracy is bang on with no refresh probs.

Big big big bonus with the tomtom is you dont need a GPRS connection unlike wayfinder where if there is a network prob or no GPRS/3g connection you're screwed as even with maps installed wayfinder still needs to connect to calculate route.

Many thanks to all who replied, I see that the topic is still pretty hot ...

I have an Holux 1200 (so MTK 32 channels) that works very fine with the P1i and Nav4all, which has the same "problem" of Wayfinder, i.e. it has to connect via broadband to do everything ...
That's why I want to have something similar to TomTom Navigator 6 and all of its maps installed locally ... after being sure I can stay without any support from TT ...

Pretty sure the baudrate is the issue. For some reason the UIQ3 phones don't like it when they aren't high enough.

With only 30 active satalites in the sky, and roughly 50% of them hiding on the opposite side of the earth, having 51 channels isn't going to make much of a difference
