Ask 'em if you will be failed on the broken bootlid. DO you know anyone that might be able to help you out from an ind. mot station?

well if i can get the lock from some where i could replace it myself. its just trying to get one this week.

it has been checked over and everything else looks ok just need to tighten up the breaks a little.

I would have thought that it would fail as they need to get into the boot check parts like the spare wheel (if it is in the boot)

The spare is part of the MOT test as it has to be road legal as you may use it. The weird thing is, if it is not present then then cant test it so they cant fail you on it. No spare is one less thing that they can fail you on.
