I do feel that Flip Closed support is a high priority feature though, mainly because I would expect a basic function like a calculator to be readily available in Flip Closed (as any P990 user would expect when we bought the device), but somehow SE managed to omit this important bit out. Here's my description of the app on a P990i:
Flip Open- After installing it, as usual the app could be found under the tools folder. It opens and can be used with ease as the calculator is finally thumb-friendly on a UIQ 3 phone
Flip Closed- After installing it, I naturally looked for it under the tools folder. No sign of the app there nor in any of the other folders, concluding that it is not supported in Flip Closed mode which has totally bummed me out because some of us have been waiting and hoping so long for a Flip Closed solution in the calculator dept. The light at the end of the tunnel seems to be just an unfinished lit cigarette. The world is dark again. The world doesn't make sense anymore. I'm going to sleep now

Ah, don't despair, I am here with you
I think I finally found the missing piece of information on the SE website how to make a program work with flip-closed *AND* make it appear in the Tools folder when the flip is closed.
I prepared a new version 0.91 of TouchCalc - not yet public, for testing - that you can download here:
http://www.dreamshare.ch/dl/TouchCalc091.sis
I would be very grateful if somebody with a P990i reports back to me as soon as possible whether it works now, so that I can make this version official. Thanks!

Works OK in FC mode.
Feature requests:
Thousands separator (FO & FC)
Specify the number of digits shown after dec. point
If possible...RPN option

Nice little calulator. I know this is not a trivial request, but I would love some scientific functions and of course support for exponential notation! I think having a Clear button would be nice. Even if it has to be small.

As for the Clear button: You can delete single digits by tapping on the number on a touchscreen. I am still looking for a good idea to make that readily apparent.
It would not be difficult to implement a "Clear the whole display" function with a tap to the small operator rectangle on the left, but that would be even less obvious...
In FC mode, the "C" button also deletes single digits.
