yes i just tried that before....
i get the error 'sony ericsson symbian drivers was not properly installed (11)'

OK, then try this.
Uninstall the smartphone PC suite and remove all existence of your W960 in the Computer administration tool on your PC. Then install the pc suite, install the drivers and then open up the pc suite and connect your phone following the instructions.
