I dont think the UK sales has helped towards the 4 million. O2 and CPW shops were selling well below there targets and Steve Jobs has silenced O2 and CPW about the quantities that they have sold.
. . so, where the majority of Sales went

North America

Looks like they did NOT do WELL in Asia too

Remember that Apple has always used "shipping units" in their financial statements.
It's not that hard to come out with 4 million units if O2, Carphone Warehouse, T-Mobile Germany and Orange are holding hundreds of thousands of unsold iphone inventory that were shipped by Apple.
First 3 days --- close to 300K. First full quarter for AT&T --- 1.1 million units. Busy Christmas quarter for AT&T --- at least 1.6-1.8 million units. You already have 3-3.2 million units from AT&T alone.
Orange said 70K sold. England and Germany had a 3 week early start --- so assumed 120K each. You have about 300K iphones sold in Europe.
Add them together you already have 3.3-3.5 million units ACTUALLY sold. So if they are holding a few hundred thousand units in unsold inventory --- then Apple would have met its 4 million unit target.
