Nipsen, you simply configure the built in email client according to instructions from google website http://mail.google.com/suppor[....]er.py?answer=78799&topic=12814
Then you go to the messaging app -> more -> mail accounts -> more -> push email always on, you check 'always on' checkbox and set the period of time (I set it from 9am to 11pm). In effect you stay connected for the whole period of time you set and you are notified about a new email the moment it arrives. It works like charm

Great... just figured out what's wrong. You need to have the internet accounts switched to "auto" on the gprs- connection point. Then it actually works. ...even if it connects perfectly fine by establishing gprs- connections anyway if the phone needs it for anything else.

*shakes head* ...was that obvious? I really can't tell. I've been pushing around the settings on the phone so much my head feels about as sharp as a sponge.

..btw, does anyone have an idea how many firmwares back this has actually worked?

I was using with R6E30, R6F41 and R6G04.
