I have a pair of junk ears. For me I just turn on the Megabass and everything sounds good. Well on the side, I was using the Nokia 5310 interim for 2 weeks. After my 810 and before my 580. You know what; I found the sound quality better than my old 810!! But just the user experience sucked so bad that I tossed it for less than 14 days and bought my W580 now. So I really cannot judge on sound quality.
BUT, in UI and customer experience I can tell you. Walkman 2 is way better. e.g. the wire of the earphone got disconnected by accident, my old w810 will play loud music via the speaker all the sudden and that is so embarrassing. But walkman 2 will ask if you want to continue playing music via speaker "Yes" or "No"... And if you turn off music in the middle of a song, instead of sudden silent, walkman 2 will use decrease sound level gently. and a lot more.

Haha ,had that kind of trouble in college, was very embarrissing so i installed a patch that stops the walkman player when head phones disconnected,very handy.
