I beg to differ. The new cyber-shots produce quite nice photos, having in mind that they're still in their initial firmware. Maybe you've seen some pretty old ones (with the proto firmwares)..
Also, have you considered the P1, W960 or G900?

If you're right, then it'll be the C702 or C902. But I wanna see it first. I don't believe it before I see it. The hardware is limited.
Not considered P1 and W960 because they have no auto-focus. But did consider G900. Although I'd prefer avoiding Symbian I'm beginning to think I can live with it if the other stuff is there. But I prefer a plain Java phone because they (used to be) faster...

U may also want to take a look at K850, there are several things improved compared to initial release, and its one of the best all in one music phone/cam phone u can get.And has a great battery life.

If ur unsatisified with those u may want to look at Nokias express music such as 5610 , Or n82 or n95 , n96

I doubt very much I'll ever switch to Nokia. Then rather some Linux device. I do still have half an eye on the K850 though, but I agree with those that complain about the silly glass infront of the lens. That won't last a month before it's scratched now will it?
Do you remember what improvements for example? I was quite happy with the picture quality of the K850, although the N95 did produce better pictures. But I tried the K850 in the shop and it seemed dead slow to me. I don't suppose it's possible to install simple themes that thus speed things up?

No.

I think someday Nokia will get better with battery lifes, user interface/design and sound (N82 camera is a WOW) and ill have no reason to stay with SE.

I know you're right about N95 and N82 being superior, but I just don't like Nokia and its (current) user interface. But it might end up like that. I would never have thought I'd even consider buying a Nokia. :-|

However if a good camera is a priority why not buy a nokia?

That is the question....
It seems everyone only has positive things to so about the N82....
But despite of SE's amazingly stupid choices, I still like SE phones the most. All other brands seems incredible slow, and has poor user interfaces. The last few years is just like SE has dumped to the same level and I'm having a really hard time understanding that move.

Seriously, if you're going to post this BS, do your homework.

Both P1 and W960 have auto focus cameras.

Me neither, but my next one will def be a nokia unless they'll sort theirselfs out with X1 or Shiho.

I'd rather have a less convenient interface than BRODs and a company that's just too lazy to release proper firmware.

That is why has lost people like me. There are thousands of threads like these not just here on Esato either and is doing not what the customers want but what they want for the customers.

I just looked at the website for the first time in about three months whereas before I would vist every week. It just shows that is going down the drain further and further.
Imagine they haven't even filled the gaping hole left by Motorola. I have to change my signature.

Hi all,

But that's it really isn't this OP is not alone and it is now common to see threads complain about SE. This never used to be the case and complaints where rare which is one of the reasons we all loved SE.

If it is happening hear on a pro SE forum with more members seeking devices from other brands is it really any surprise they are losing market share and position.

Only those in denial still protect any criticism of SE and brand any one that dares to a SE hater.

But the facts are there for all to see lots of complaints and dropping market share isn't our imagination.

Looking at the K850 a flagship CyberShot that 10 months and 5 firmware updates later still has people with dead phones and wanting a fix it all software. Now that really is bad service and delivery from SE and they wonder why they are dropping.

Marc

5 firmware updates later...? Err, make that 3, would you, as 3 generic firmware updates is the amount of updates that has been.

Ah well, yet another pathetic thread, soon to be ruined by mr you're-all-in-denial. Bye!

Hi Mizzle,

Well again as not really being that interested in SE any longer i didn't notice some where carrier branded versions.

But as it happens on checking it still appears to 4 not 3 but the point is 8 months after launch and users still are having huge problems and BROD or other problems that require a trip to service centre and no phone for more than a couple of weeks. Which is abysmal for any product never mind a flagship product.

Here are the listed non branded firmwares

R1AE037 12/4/08

R1EA031 12/3/08

R1DA308 21/12/07

R1CA037 25/10/07

As taken from the K850 firmware thread.

Marc

lol, thanks Marc, very nice of me to correct you, when I mistyped it myself

But yes, four updates, not that it matters, and R1CA029 was the release one (not mentioned).
