It could be a sim thing, try your sim in anothr phone if poss.
I had wierd fault last week, the phone kept flashing up sim error or the no call icon would come on. I had gsm only set and with a few reboots and setting to 3g got it to appear ok. I say appear ok because it looked fine but I didnt find out for 3 days that it was not receiving calls, notifications or messages, it was making calls ok just not ceiving anything.
So I thought it was dead and put the sim in another phone to check it and all the call notifications and messages for the 3 days came through. I was going to flash the p1 but thought Id try the sim again and it worked!! incoming calls and stuff, seems all ok know.
It seems like the sim got hung up on something with the p1 and it needed flushing with another phone, thats all I can think of.

I just remembered this topic which I started several months ago and somebody might be interested in an update:
The problem occurred on Windows-based computers but the root-cause is my Linux-based laptop. Somehow I found out that if I attached the phone to my Linux-based laptop as a mass-storage device (file transfer mode) and then detached it by switching the phone back into telephone mode, the phone gets screwed.
How to solve it?
Reconnect it to my Linux-based laptop, put it in file transfer mode, unmount it in Linux and then detach it from the laptop. (unplug it of switching it into telephone mode)
I hope that this might help somebody in the future.
