Yep. Not to put too fine a point on it.
I think it's time for us all to just remember the happy times with our P800 and P900's, and move on. UIQ died with the first P990 to roll off the line, in any case.
For me, the old P800 was, and is, an amazing device. 6 odd years later, I don't recognise any of the current Symbian devices (UIQ or S60) as any relation to it - in fact, my WM powered Tytn II is the first phone in a while to really remind me of what I loved about UIQ devices in the first place - a no nonsense, no compromise, do-anything PDA and phone all in one.

I have to agree with Boinng here; looking at the support SE is giving (think firmware updates), I doubt UIQ will go on living after Moto's supposedly UIQ 4.0 device.
That might not be a bad thing though. At least someone (read: nokia) finally throws in their weight in favor of the symbian os, so the new foundation might turn out just fine. Perhaps as a blend of all the different interface versions we have now, so hopefully we'll see the UIQ interface concepts back.
Looking at Nokia's lack of touchscreen, I just hope that this won't be the end of touchscreen-enabled symbian devices. The Xperia is a hot piece of hardware, but the way things are with WM, I'd rather not have one.
@Dutchies: hey gasten! Naamloos, m'n vriendin heeft een W960 en die reageert eigenlijk best rap, misschien nog wel sneller dan m'n gepimpde P1. :S

Now what? Good question. First of all I will tenderly perform some preventive maintenance on my P900 and make sure it's stored properly. After all, P900, P990 and the P1 are all historic devices now. I may yet get a P1 towards the end of summer to last me another year or two.
I might just get a HTC Touch Pro if I didn't have this dislike of WM.
In short, I don't expect anything worthwhile before 2010, so I'll get the best price/performance device this year and hang on to it.
