@fbart i'm on Orange but when i phoned BT they gave some correct settings but not all of them, try these settings,

1.connect using>>your vodaphone GPRS internet data account
2.protocol>>pop3
3.inc server>>mail.btinternet.com*
4.inc port>>110*
5.mailbox>>your username
6.password>>your password
7.outgoing server>>your vodaphone outgoing server
8.outgoing port>>25*
9.email address>>your email address
10.download>>headers+text
11.from name>>whatever
12.signature>>no signature
13.copy outgoing>>off
14.check interval>>off

I dont know if this will work as you are on broadband and may differ from dial-up as i am on with BT.
I have put a * next to the settings that BT gave me.

Ps.BritishTelecom told me to use>mail.btinternet.com>for outgoing server but it did not work,so when i phoned Orange they told me to use theirs(smtp.orange.net)then it worked.

Still no luck although I don't know what the outgoing serever for vodafone is. I tried smtp.vodafone.co.uk and wap.vodafone.uk and neither worked. I will look at vodafone site to see if I can find an outgoing server name
