I have to say that I like the look of the t39 but eventually decided not to buy it due to the tiny screen

I'm into my fourth! T68, and I still think it's better then the rest, and right now I would only consider exchanging it for a T68i.
All phones have strong and weak points, but for me is the balance in the T68(i) better than what I have found anywhere else. Some more recent devices have newer features, better display and so on, but the 68 is a very well rounded product and tell me about any other phone that still feels up to date after what is soon 1.5 years!
Apart from this I have had a lot of problems with my phone, and now my battery (still from the October 2001 original device) is starting to show its age.

The T68i is a feature-rich phone which was ahead of its time when it was launched. Very happy when I bought it but after 6 months of usage, two things really irked me:
1. SMS and menu changes were just too slow for my liking despite regularly upgrading the phone's firmware. I constantly had to wait for the phone to catch-up with me when SMSing.
2. Once the screen saver comes on, there is no way for me to tell whether I've missed any SMS or Calls other than activating my phone to remove the screen saver.
The above may not seem significant to some but it really spoilt my enjoyment of the otherwise excellent phone. I'm now a happy owner of a Nokia 6100 - fast SMS and a (smart) screen saver that stays off when there is are missed calls/SMS ...

In a perfect world the Nokia and SE designers/engineers would sit down together and create the ultimate phone..
However in the real world.. No, the t68 is not the perfect phone.. yes i own one myself but anyway. Since i bought it three weeks ago i canīt say anything about reliability or lifespan 'yet' but my 6210, now 2 years old (my son has it now) havenīt skipped a beat in all that time, it has been reliable to the point of being boring!

Also i think the menus (speed logic and layout) is better on Nokia. Their "entry level" phones has not impressed me so far though. Also had a 8310 after the 6210. Nice phone with buggy sw and creaky flimsy shell. Think i have had it with exchangeable covers.. the t68 feels much more solid and is really good looking, but the best phone.. sorry but no way José..
*just MHO*

perfection is impossible, but the t68 comes closer to it than any other phone i've seen, certainly for me.
size matters, and for me that rules out phones like the P800 straight away, because the additional benefits don't outweigh the disadvantages for me. the t68 manages to be small, light, comfy in the hand, *and* give me email, gprs, colour, and all the rest of it. there's no other phone that can do that, certainly not in it's current price bracket, and price matters too.
i haven't liked a phone as much as this since the t28, and that was already outdated by the time i got it. the t39 (although functionally better) was never as nice as that, but the t68 beats them both. i'm already thinking that my next phone will probably be a 3g, and that's only when it gets mainstream (and affordable).
