Don't worry too much.
The secret to success?
Find something you're really good at and then work damn hard at it.
Thats what someone told me anyway. Of course the hard part is finding out what you are good at, thats the challenge.

Always wanted to be a police officer, my uncle was one his whole life, around 32 years and had to retire due to cancer which he died of.
I'd love to do it and there's no reason why I couldn't, I was maybe a bit too unfit before but now I'm fine.
My local force were recruiting for 3 months, so I filled in the huge form, was around 10 pages long, got a letter back saying thanks we'll keep you updated, even if you don't get through to the next round.....So one way or another they are going to contact me, but they did say it will take months...and it has been around 2 months now
But I'd love to do it and I feel I'd be really good.
Watch just above every police show on TV there is, love it!
Even went to a career day with a small group from high school years back to show my interest.
But apart from that, I'm good with computers and that's about it tbh, I have no trade skills such as a bricky, welder, plumber, electrician etc.

I have a good job these days for past ten years. Anyway it gets me when employers say they want someone with experience. How is anyone these days supposed to gain experience if no one takes young inexperienced people on. Crazy. This might sound odd but i have noticed at interviews in the past that alot of employers seem to also be impressed if you find out and know a bit about the company your going for an interview with. I have always been asked in the past what do you know about the company question. Helps i think.

I agree mate, a few jobs i've seen which I thought I'd be good at and then read on and seen that crap sentance "experience required" or "experience not essential, but is preferred" which means anyone with minimal experience would more then likely get the job over me.
Grrrrr can you believe that AGAIN my alarm went of and in my sleep I turned it off and fell back asleep and woke up at 11.10....my meeting at the job center was 11.15, so phoned up and was completely honest and they said it's no problem and to come in next week.
I've done this a few times now, in my sleep, when the alarm goes of, I turn it off and hide the phone somewhere, this time is was under my pillow.
My sister said she heard the alarm go off and wondered why I didn't get up.
Odd eh.

Yer my mum keeps saying to put an advert in the newspaper and see where it goes, said to do free callout and no fee if I can't fix.
Also mention that I am happy to setup and install broadband and networks and anything really.
But there's always that thought at the back of your mind, what if you get called out and you have no idea how to resolve the problem lol.
Usually I do through experience, but your bound to get that odd job where you think, ummm.
Handed in 2 CV's to the computer shop down the road last year, bunch of idiots really, If I don't say so myself they would benefit from employing me.
Going to phone Godfreys now and see what they say about IT Jobs.

If you find it truly impossible to find yourself a job, look to your extended family. A lot of people I know (including myself) have got their jobs through uncles, cousins, family friends, etc. And usually these people are only too happy to help you out.
My uncle works fairly high up (2IC) for a video games arcade company and he got me a job in customer service at one of the stores, which I will keep until I am finished my study.
So yeah, ask around I'd say. You don't always have to get a job the accepted way!

can i make a suggestion, what i did when i was having bad luck in findind a job is join a job agents. Ok they may only temp you out to places and you will hate the jobs, but while your trying to find a job your bringing in a bit of money plus your also gaining experience.
they got me a full time job, ok i dont enjoy what im doing at the moment but they are paying me well and it does the job (pardon the pun) untill i find something i actually want to do.
Tbh quite alot of the temp work was in warehoue's ect, but it brings money in and its pretty easy so worth it while your looking around!
