sad? Nokia profits for Q2 are 61% lower...

Huh buddy, don't fool yourself (and others). The reason why Nokia has a 61% drop is because of the amalgamation with Siemens ! ! ! which happened in the 2nd quarter of 2007 ! And in so doing became one of the biggest companies in the world ! They went on to have a 'bumper' 2007 season, with sky-rocketing share prices and market expansion ! It is interesting to note,while nokia have just increased their market growth projection for 2008, SE did just the opposite ! ! The only other company to do that is Motorola . Only a fool will see this report as positive.I wonder how much longer Ericsson will have any of this until they leave Sony all together. I belive Sony is still manufacturing phones for Japan.If SE does not 'wake up' soon, we might be back to square one before the end of the decade

2,000 may leave Sonyericsson

Sony Ericsson, which is owned half by Ericsson, announced in a report costsavings-program whose goal is to reduce annual costs by about 300 million per year.the company expects that about 2,000 people will have to leave the company around the world, including suppliers. Says Sony Ericsson's president, Dick Komiyama, at the teleconference after the company's interim report.

Restructuring costs for the program will be in the same magnitude as the annual rörelsekostnadsbesparingen.

"We estimarar that our restructuring will be in the same magnitude as the reduced movingcostlevel. The cost will be taken as the measures are implemented," said Dick Komiyama.

from di.se (google translate)

Sonyericsson in total got 7500 workers, 4000of them in sweden and 2300 in lund.

Most of the R&D takes place in lund (afaik) and kista. (kista is for smartphones). So sacking almost 2000 people in lund will mean that they are going to lower R&D costs.

Motorola and Siemens, here sonyericsson comes.

do I wrote something about reasons why Nokia profits are worse? do I wrote that Nokia management staff spent all moneys on whores? does this changed overall situation? is 61% drop a fact? yes it is...

oh great! you discovered America once again - congratulations

1. Nokia closed manufacture in Bochum (lost ~295 mln EUR)
2. main Nokia branch (mobile phones) profits: -1%
3. average cost of Nokia phone: from 143 USD to 117 USD
4. Nokia Siemens Network profits: +18%

BTW. phone for me is only phone and nothing more, SE can die, Nokia can die, this is not important for me

@Raiderski

I've said this before and will say it again, don't stress yourself over mario, he's here to wind almost everybody up. Also, he'll find even the lamest defence to explain why Nokia are doing worse.
