But they are not factory unlocked they can be unlocked by operator but as you can see on engadget customers who have tried upgrading to 2.0.1 have had multiple issues with handsets that are operator unlocked locking back up

I don't think that's strictly the correct description i.e. the use of GSM; although I can understand why you're stating that.

I don't think I've heard anyone refer to 3G Nokia/Samsung/SE handsets (unlocked and unbranded at CPW) as GSM handsets though.

How much more? The RRP of a 16GB 3G iPhone is £360 so how much more than that are you paying, or rather would we have to pay?
