Bottom line is....

NO ONE should do a review or at least a preview when a mobile phone is still in early software or beta stage. Because it's just plain STUPIDITY when you scrutinize a device when half of it's feature DON"T function well!!!

JUST PLAIN STUPIDITY!

why should we concern about SE? do they concern about users? we've seen a lot of average phones from SE and if strategy "copy & paste" will not be changed to "cyber-shot & walkman are not empty words" then only SE will be guilty of his defeats. there will be no hughs and kisses from me - it's a business, not a time for sentiments

@tai020381

i don't know how you missed it but many of us have been trying to do that with SE for the last 2 years odd. But SE are deaf and dumb and don't engage or listen to their users in the slightest.

SE and SE alone has got itself into this mess with both the contempt they show for their users and their failure to deliver quality products that are bug free. Never mind missing the features we expect for the price, how about a Generation Web smart phone without HSDPA, no increase in screen size on any device, still using underpowered processors and no VGA Video recording. All of these things are found on rivals devices at around the same price point.

Many here where happy to proclaim that the K850 would be the class leading camera phone from SE and that a firmware would make it the best. Look what happened next over 10 months later and users are still waiting for a fix all firmware on a now discontinued model.

All you have to do is read around the Forum for problems and complaints even a simple alarm working on the A2000 platform is a problem. Esato was and is firstly an SE users forum but just look at how many users now have iPhone's, TyTN's , Nokia's , Samsungs etc etc. and that's here a SE strong hold.

Look at SE's last 2Q's figures and 97% drop in profits and where the are in market position that's the clear and undeniable evidence that SE are not making the best handsets or selling them for that matter.

As to the C905 only when it's released will we know for sure how good or bad it is but just believing SE will get it right or firmware will fix it didn't work for the K850 now did it?

@dogman
nokia has also made some really shitty phones in the past, just because they didnt suffer financially doesnt let them off the hook. the n76 advfertised a high class fashion phone was nothing more than a shitty phone whose paint peeled off within weeks. the n95 suffered from bad slider and in a nokia forum you'll find disgruntled users regarding that. n71 had design faults that i cant even begin to start mentioning. n80 was a big bulky mess of a phone, it is without a doubt the buggiest n series phone ever with an even worse battery life.

my point is that nokia isnt a bed of roses as you might believe them to be

Hi QVGA

I have never claimed Nokia are perfect anywhere nor would i be so stupid as to do so. But when we are talking about SE who cares what any other manufacturer does as quite simple two wrongs don't make a right.

It really doesn't matter what you or any other SE fan boy wants to claim the proof of SE's failings are clear for all to see. The drop in profits and sales says it all as that is the market speaking

Up to 2006 the vast majority of all my devices had been Ericsson and then SE since 2006 i have been unable to purchase any. Why because i am a smart phone user and sine then they have not improved in screen size, processor and graphics and most importantly HSDPA. Two years on from my M600 disaster and SE still don't offer a single smart phone with HSDPA and sorry but that's just pathetic especially when they are labeling their latest as Generation Web yet no HSDPA. Yet they have it in their normal phones, even if i was to buy a non smart phone with all the reports of problems what i would i buy a K850 lemon? or any of the other problematic A2000 phones i don't think so. It appears i am not alone as more and more on this forum seem to be buying other phones rather than SE. I really don't think the W890, X1 and C905 are going to be anywhere near enough to turn SE's fortunes round either. Only time will tell what will happen to SE but they really need to do something and fast the 5 years of good growth has all but evaporated now.

Marc

You mean this?

Speaking of the i8510's flash, it's a run-of-the-mill LED unit, which is, of course, a bit disappointing, given the camera's otherwise stellar specs. But let's be honest here, even Xenon flash units (like the ones found in the Nokia N82, Motorola ZN5, and some Sony Ericsson branded handsets) can't make a world of difference in terms of image quality. There are several valid reasons for that, and the main one is that the cameras built into mobile phones can't provide decent quality in low light these days, and in this case no flash in the world will mend this glitch. So, as far as the Samsung i8510 goes, the absence of a xenon flash module only means they won't have an extra selling point to brag about in commercials, but that's about it.

You don't think this is correct? Compare the built-in xenon flash on any digicam to what you have on camphones. Will the flash on for example a K850 really fill a whole room like even the most basic budget P&S camera?
