hmmm anyway

whenever you see a japanese name...tht is japan se

you see some weird code name like chinese name...likely china se

you see european name....europe se

very common english name...likely usa se.

as se also getting india design centre...you might see indian ladies name soon.

i guess it was discussed why all phone come in female name...so no need to explain.

optical zoom on C905....i wonder how thick it will be if it need tht.... samsung 5mpx with optical zoom is quite thick...8mpx will be more

maybe it mean no point to go to 8mpx but put a good 5mpx with optical zoom?

Cool, I didnt know that

So the beibei was chinese SE and paris was europe and xperia US?

And hecaro/hikaru? Sounds Greek

As for size, I wouldnt mind a thicker phone if it had optical zoom
you could make the same phone available without optical zoom feature for the slim lovers

They would have to make it weatherproof though.

Currently I carry a waterproof digicam and a cellphone whenever I travel, would be a great space saver if it was combined into one.

The point is just that. The N95 doesn't look good but it still sold really well because of the features (heck every time I'm outside I see someone with a N95). The thing why japanese phones look big is because of the big screen and since it's 16:9, the phones look even longer. But would you mind having such a big screen? I sure as hell wouldn't but that's just how i see it and everyone has to decide for himself. For me one or two additional centimeters in length are worth it if I get in exchange a 3" full wvga screen. And another thing which make jp phones look big is the form factor.

My sentiments exactly, however I think the average buyer in the west does worry somewhat about the size and unless the phone is guaranteed to sell in bucketloads then its a risk putting a feature-rich phone onto the market that might not sell enough to make a profit because it is too large.

The N95 sold really well but the size of it would make me think twice about purchasing it.

@sigea, like SEMCJ did, offering SO705i, 905i AND 905iCS at the same time(905iCS had the tech/function, others had more 'stylish' forms as priority)......

I think the S700 and W900 were also made in Japan, and they were great SE devices. Lets hope C905 will be the same. . . . . .psssh

They were indeed(just got an S700 back myself )...shame SE Europe couldn't handle supporting the japanese hardware(just like V/Z800, come to think of it)......

Ah, that's it - they've just chopped all the good(VGA) bits out of C905, haven't they?? Hmmm......

I do not know about hecaro, because the Japanese lettering system does not have the letter c

but hikaru is Japanese, for example, the famous Japanese singer called Utada Hikaru.

宇多田 ut ta da ヒカル
In Japanese hikaru can be written, using different Kanji, for a girls name, but the verb- 光る hika 光 ru る means 'to shine'

One of the Shinkansen is called 光 Hikari. This means 'light' in English.

Thanks Aware

So SO905i is basic slim design and SO905iCS has optical zoom.

Even with optical zoom it looks thin

And what is the N95 to you QVGA? Slim sleek? Don't think so.
Most of the times why the jp phones look weird is because of they're strange colors and sometimes weird design of the housing. That's just how Japanese people like their phone. You can easily change the design of the phone so that it would be more appealing to the European and American customers
If phones like that from japan would be released in the west people definitely would by them because they are multimedia powerhouses and that's the trend nowadays.

N95 is fine in size. its a lot smaller than japanese phones

@QVGA

Which Japanese phones are larger than the N95 again?

Not all of them. Quite a few are a lot slimmer.
