If

stays true to form then the last firmware for the P1i has already been released. The phone is more than a year old. Remember that the P990i was killed before even reaching it's first birthday...
Compare with Nokia who released a new firmware for the N95 earlier this week. Some fanboys would argue that the N95 has so many more bugs to fix but at least Nokia do release updates, while SE dropped the P990i with major bugs still outstanding (video autofocus, memory leak just to name two).

Sad but true.

The problems of the p990 were greater than the firmware IMHO, and this is why SE seemed to want to sweep it under the carpet and released the P1...
Now though, with all the changes happening at Symbian, I guess they're looking forward to finding some way of fending off Android et al. The upshot being that we, the customer base, get shafted once more in the pursuit of market share and immediate profit, and where's the margin in releasing bugfixes/upgrades for a phone you've already sold? Loyalty? Customer satisfaction? Corporate image? Pah! - Who needs it?
Let's just give the kids a new shiny toy to drool over, and they'll soon forget the past....It's like the old cliche in my buisiness "always leave them wanting more..."

While i agree with almost everything you've stated AD there is one thing i dont agree on..."always leave them wanting more".
You see while my P1 has for the most part been very good, and has fulfilled the objectives i set when buying the phone namely a qwerty device for office, email, multimedia and while i've not had stability problems on the whole, green tint has not a major issue unless really low light/night time etc...
I feel the build quality is questionable, not terrible, but for a £200+ device i was expecting better especially when compared to the likes of various blackberry devices, samsung's and nokia's.
Also SE's PC suite is fairly bad...i think Motorola's phone explorer is worse but SE's isn't anything to shout about.
But the most important factors for me has been SE's attitude to their customers, this being my first SE device i didnt know how they opperate, but having seen Nokia release new firmwares every so often, having been put a lot of hassle when trying to get a replacment charger from SE despite being with warranty, and also having seen SE's approach to upgrading certain functions within their UIQ devices e.g. the new notes and torch app's which could have easily been stuck in a new firmware for older UIQ devices, i really am going to have to think very hard about whether or not i'll be buying another SE device.
I understand by releasing a fancy note system it may get a sale of a G900 rather than a P1 but what about the customers who bought the P1 before the G900 was out? SE opperate on the basis of if you want that buy the new device which surely does reduce the loyalty a customer will have towards them.
Thankfully some people have made hacks available to UIQ devices and have ported certain apps over and making the device what it should have been when it was released.
I think SE should really look how their customer's see them and change their ways and try to increase customer loyalty. If they don't a lot of customers will be jumping ship, sooner rather than later.

@people saying it's flawless or that it's a great piece of hardware.
It is, or has the potential to be I would say. But the rest of us are talking about the bugs, errors, and little things that shouldn't be happening. Also, what happened to the promised Flash support, Skype support, etc?

I really do hope that SE address some of the issues and customer requests (Flash etc.) for a phone that's just over an year old.
On a side note, the 18 month old E90 just got a new dose of life with firmware v300 (how in the bloody world do they come up with such large f/w numbers?). But Nokia being Nokia, they had to disappoint their legion of fans somehow - updating to v300 removes support for BB!

Yeah, since the launch of P990 our UIQ experience has turned into an endless patience, rumours, guesses, wishful thinking and disappointments.
Unfo there is not much left from the early days of UIQ.
