Hd could mean lots of stuffs,
HD here might also mean Huge display(since its got 4").

But HDs are generally referred to high def.

I think the HD simply refers to the screen resolution, which should be about 800x480

HD just means high definition. What it's high in comparison to is another matter. It's kind of like, if TV has a standard res. then so do phones, 320x240, anything above that is non-standard, there for HD I spose...
