That's life i guess, buy a lottery ticket and keep your fingers crossed if you don't like working.

It all depends on what you do, i'm fortunate to have a great job and even better colleagues.

I retired at 27, 20 years ago, never had a job where i did not watch the clock and pray for 5pm to arrive faster .
People work for the money, and partly for the self and social esteem it brings.

ha ha, you guys are all foaming!

I said I work 9-5 doesn't mean thats all I work. Anyhoo Im not complaining I have to work, I am asking why people do it? My job pays bad but looks great on the CV and gives me lots of experience. I also have to do it for uni, out of choice it is not something I would choose to do.

And yes I do have a few ideas so I don't have to work 9-5

Jesus life could be worse. When your working all those hours think about something to look forward to like a holiday you can save for. That makes it worth working. And all your home comforts think yourself your lucky you have money and a job. I work as a lower paid manager in a 4 star hotel. I have to work overtime alot and cover sickness and i quite often do back to back shifts. I do late shifts then early next day that kills you. But when your days come you really make the most of it. Though quite often is the case with hotels you get called in on some days off. After a working long shifts sometimes i love it cos being at home too much is boring to me. I would rather be out working or doing something but thats just me. I come on this site inbetween times and when on the move. Why not be your own boss and do something like run your own business and work your own hours. Weekends mean nothing to me i can go out anytime in the week and have fun. And working weekends and having week days off you can do things in the week you cant sometimes do on weekends. Think about the Japanese they work the longest hours anywhere in the world.

We all work for shareholders.
Big bosses as you imagine.
That is what we do.
We work for others who has money to(or have to) spend.
We study half of our lifes than start to work from scratch.

And there is another lie called career. There are two options. You work for your career or you become a trader/dealer if you can.

This is what we do all year long

Don't worry, you will stop asking this questions couple of months later. Try to have some fun and make new friends if you can. Because as you can imagine your job will be your life. If you are not happy with you job, life will suck
