That explains why our local phone store cancelled the sale of the k850 and sony ericsson recalled it. too glitchy.
Try the new update.
The local phone store said only the new firmware might fix it.

Oh i see...
Once i do seus for my late G502 and my friends W910i using broadband 3,5G took almost
1,5 hour each.
Can't imagine doing it with 56kbps....
Sounds boring and SCARY....

Would have taken time to download the update/flash files.
Those files are huge.
The main thing required is a stable internet connection.

I had this problem and the phone was turning itself off intermittently with a short vibrate and then the keypad would light and the blue light around the camera would go on. It was happening frequently, mostly in the middle of calls, sometimes turning itself back on shortly afterwards, other times not. To get it back on I initially just pulled the battery out and reinserted it. In the end, this got ridiculous so I reinstalled the software. I initally downloaded it from the SE site and hooked up the phone via the supplied USB cable. The software takes you through the install and you hold the "C" key down while plugging it in. If youhave the opportunity, copy your contacts to your memory card before doing this as it wipes everything and your settings and shortcuts and favorites all need to be set up again.
This worked like a dream the first time. About a month later, again in the middle of a call, the phone turned it self off and lit up. Now there's nothing I can do to get it back working again. I've tried reinstalling the software again to no avail. The phone is not recognised by the PC so I can't even start that process. I've tried a different battery. I've tried recharging. I've tried leaving it in that state for a while and after an hour or so it just goes off - probably the battery dying but it's hard to tell as the screen is showing nothing.
If anyone has any better ideas I'm all ears as the phone is two months out of warranty but my contract goes for another 10 months. I'm quite disappointed as other than this problem, I was quite happy with the phone. Now it's just a paperweight.
