I just heard that they are recalling all the P800s because of a fault with battery charging. This comes from a source that I think has inside info. He says that something to do with the charging chip is faulty, and the phone only charges to about 20% of its capacity. They have had to recall the phone yet again, and are now saying release date will be mid March.

I am an extensive user of my phone with an average of 3000 minutes per month. The battery life takes my until 3PM and that is simply not acceptable. I got everything else working and i love the phone, but i have to charge in my office or else, i wont last all day.

Just a note... Lithium based batteries get DAMAGED if completely drained before charging. Do NOT treat Li-Ion or Li-Pol batteries like the old NiMH or NiCd batteries.
I get 2 days with normal phone/PDA & game use.
The battery life is VERY good for a PDA... try getting 12 hours from an iPaq.
Remember we're running ONE 1000mAh battery for a phone AND PDA.

well this trick was posted somewhere on the board..
get the filemanager and use it to close off unneeded programs.. cuz there isnt a close option on most apps there.. they stay open, using up resources, thus processing, thus battery
it does conserve battery.. I got my P800 to last 1.5 days with this trick...

Guys, there has got to be someting seriously wrong with my P800! I use it heavily, GPRS, games, PDA and the phone unit. It drives my wife nuts that hardly ever puts it away. My battery lasts for 3-4 days. I wonder what I do wrong when it last that long compared to the rest of you? Like today Ive beeenn playing with it for a total of at least 4 hours and made a few calls and still have 85% battery left.

Nope! When I say playing it aint only the games, it is mostly GPRS and pictures. Ill tell you what I do. Every day it is left on charge most of the time when I am not using it, in the car and at night I leave it in the cradle and sync it. So 50% of the time it is charging. When I go away, like to visit my parents for a weekend, I never bother bringing a charger and it last all weekend no problem. I believe the clue here is to avoid drainig it too much before charging and when you need it to last for a few days its ready for it.

11 days later and the battery life has improved somewhat but not much. It won't do 48 hrs that's for sure. And I'm not using the phone extensively. Bluetooth is always on however. Could that be the culprit? Didn't have the prob with the T68i though.
