Well Vodafone unintentionally (I hope) blocked WiFi on the C905 from working when they put their own firmware on it. I seem to remember somebody having problems with the Orange C905 too. I'll see if I can find it.
Really! I'm stunned that Vodafone would dare to take their arrogance that far. The iPhone has no such issue, it leaves 3G as soon as it finds a wifi signal it knows.

really need to renegotiate that contract - a C905 without wifi is pointless IMO and would rule it out if I were considering purchasing it.
It seems net neutrality issues are raising the ugly heads more and more as the financial squeeze goes on...

Well it depends who is more arrogant haha.... Apple seem to be the undisputed company that insist on what they want. Remember the first iTUNE capable phone...Motorola need to bow down.
Remember all other funny thing that Apple put into their iPHONE like sim lock or unremovalable battery etc...yet it got the brand power and appeal which even Vodafone need to bow down.
I am not surprise SE don't have the negotiation power because what it can offer is very similar to others like nokia/ samsung in the eyes of Vodafone.

Hi All - i'm new to Esato.
I've just got the Sony Ericsson C905 today, but seem to be having some issues with the WiFi - whenever I go to access the internet, it doesn't connect using WiFi and uses Orange GPRS settings.
I've had a look through this topic but am not completly sure if it's something i'm missing - or something i have to switch off....
Hope someone can help me...

Plank, what are you on? Only people with branded phones have had issues.

Which means that every single C905 deserves a debranding.

I have just got a c905 and had the same prob but i overcame it. Here's what i did.
GO TO WI-FI AND TURN IT OFF
SELECT THE CONNECTION & DELETE IT
TURN ON WI-FI AND ALLOW TO SEARCH FOR NETWORKS
SCROLL TO YOUR OWN HOME COONECTION AND SELECT IT
ENTER THE WEP KEY IF REQUIRED
SAVE EVERYTHING AND GO BACK TO MAIN SCREEN
TRY TO CONNECT TO INTERNET
If you're on orange, it'll say that you cant access orange home page using WI-FI so just go to options and enter the URL of the site you want to visit. I'm still trying to figure out how to change the homepage fromOrangeworld to something else.
Hope this info helps someone.

I had the same problem, apparently vodafone live and orange software on the phone will not connect to WIFI, but do not panic there is a simple way around this.
Instead of using the connection keys, simply press up on the main navigation key (big key on the front of phone), this gives you a list of options:
The first is homepage... ignore this!
Go to option 'enter web address', type in any address ie google.com, yahoo.co.uk..... hey presto you are online.
Find your favourite sites and press options, followed by bookmark. Now when you first press up on the navigation key you can press bookmarks, and go directly to the sites your favourite bookmarked sites.
I hope this helps.
