Davinci have given me another credit to have go, very promptly I might add.
They say I need "a customised UK firmware"
Just gonna try and find it ....

either:
C905 R1BA038 CID52 CUSTOMIZED UNITED KINGDOM WESTERN-EUROPE
or
C905 R1BA042 CID52 CUSTOMIZED UNITED KINGDOM WESTERN-EUROPE
should do the job

Looking at the B1BA038 firmware for a C905 (not C905a, I think that's not the normal UK model), it says that there are 34 items in the firmware. Do you get a choice to choose one of them when you flash the phone? If so, "C905 R1BA038 CID52 CUSTOMIZED UNITED KINGDOM WESTERN-EUROPE - EN EU CA NL FR GL DE PT ES TR PL" looks like a likely candidate. Of course, I am a newb so have no clue 8-P

yay I never saw the second choice menu so i flashed it to the one at the top of the list.
Davinci were just great, they credited back my points and helped me very quickly, answering my emails on the fly !!
All went well and my phone is brilliant now. Internet is fine. Only thing to try out now is the GPS
Thanks everyone for their help

@antgrey - correct ... the c905a is for the American market - different
frequencies to Europe/UK :-]

I have the C905 on o2, just wondering if you noticed much difference when you flashed with standard firmware?
Was the phone any more responsive?
One thing I would love to be able to change on my C905 is the interface for composing a text message. It looks like o2 have set it to use the MMS composing interface. When you flashed yours with the standard firmware did you notice if this changed?
Or does anyone know how to change it in the options?
I also notice that on my o2 C905 the options of changing the size of the text when composing a text message does nothing except randomly crash the phone!
