Same happened to mine, I thought it was the firmware at first but flashing didn't solve it, after a day the screen went black completely. Mine's three months old, it's at the repair center for the second time right now (first time they sent it back without actually doing anything), but if you're is only 6 days old, take it back for a replacement.

The infamous flex cable issue. It causes everything from dead earpieces, dead screens, and worst of all it's caused by the slider mechanism.

Dam slider mechanism.. I should have gone with just a plain phone which I always have had.. No Flip and No slide. I have had my nokia 6233 for nearly 4 years now. Its the most trusty back up phone ever.

So if the problem is the flex cable.. does that mean my phone will keep stuffing up like this? untill i get a new one...?

Its a great phone.. but my one is so unreliable that im thinking on getting a different one.

I have developed the same problem within the last week and under the advice of Phones4U (where I bought it), sent it back to SE to be repaired as SE's repair turnaround is quicker than P4U.

Had a letter back from SE yesterday telling me that the fault is unrepairable and it's my fault. Rang them instantly and again they're telling me that the fault is unrepairable due to unauthorised engineering thus voiding the warranty.

They're basically telling me that something has been 'cut' within the electronics.

I disagreed due to the fact the phone still worked with the exception of the faulty screen and I have had a case created and to expect a call in the next 3-5 working days although I'm told the response will be the same.

Anyone else had this and does anyone know where I stand legally?

That's bullsh*t. The "cut" is caused by a fault in the slider movement, thus meaning that it's a faulty production issue. If you're looking for a quick solution then you should probably buy the spare flex cables, download some repair movies and DIY.

I don't think its the same issue as this but has anyone had their screen going black without it being fuzzy? Mine has just started doing it and it seems like a software logic fault rather than a hardware issue.

It goes black but if you let it timeout (like it would do if the screen was on and you left it until the screen deactivated) and then press a key or open the slider the screen comes on fine. The fault usually happens when the screen is starting to dim and then you press a key or open the slider to activate the phone and it fades to black rather than lighting up.

I wondered if it was due to the number of messages I had in one conversation slowing the phone down too much so I've deleted those and done an off-battery out-on cycle to reset it. Clutching at straws I know!

I got my C905 from Dialaphone (T-Mobile 12 month contract) in March 09. At the beginning of June the earpiece audio went - I couldn't hear people but they could hear me. It was sent off for repair to Dialaphone/A-Novo repair centre in Norwich. They debranded the phone (removed T-Mobiles branding) and flashed the phone - they didn't replace any cable. Got it back a week later and it worked perfectly until a few days ago when the phone began to freeze and then the colours on the screen/display became distorted. Photos would appear fuzzy and the phone would turn itself off. If I switched it back on the screen/display would remain black/blank although you could tell the phone was on as the keypad's LEDs were lit. I tried reinstalling the software from the SE website (update service) but this didn't help. It has now been sent back to Dialaphone/Anovo in Norwich to be repaired again.
