I Currently have an un modded C905, with orange, the firmware is the general orange branded stuff, I wanted to know would there be any performance benifits to having this phone flashed to the generic unbranded version. I have noticed that my phones battery only lasts 2 days, ( i miss my K850 for battery duration) does anyone know if this is normal and woudl a flash sort this problem out??

I debranded my Orange phone and it works much better, the battery seems better and GPS, etc is much improved!

Does the new firmware effect the battery in anyway? My last two Sony phones lost some battery time after firmware updates. I'm wondering if it's the same with the C905?

I've found that my battery is lasting longer now it has been debranded.

Thanks, my phone was never branded so I can't compare battery life with a branded phone. Can anyone who's updated an unbranded phone comment?

Cool, I think i will give it a go, I was looking at the davinci team website, If i were to pick a firmware for my phone, what one would it need to be if i had the Simfree unlocked handset that i could buy from sony direct? ( i realise that it will not unlock my phone) I just want the plain bog standard software that sony would load to a phone shipped to the UK.

Regards
Robert

battery life seems better although its a difficult thing to gauge. I took my phone off charge at 3pm earlier and since then i have made about 5 short calls, turned on the bluetooth for just under 2 hours on a car journey connected to a car kit 3 calls made. Sent a few text messages and now at 11.30pm battery says 86%. However i must stress that i'm using it as my work phone. I don't have a data tariff included so to avoid charges i have it switched to Gsm only and
not 3G. If i leave it like this it will easily last me until the weekend now, the standby times are good.

Trouble is because i never know how busy i might be with work i can't risk running low so i will probably charge it up tomorrow night again now. When i get a few days off i will put in my own sim and give it a thrashing with the music player and wifi. Although i reckon if you're a heavy user you should still get over a day out of it easy.

Btw. My phone was unbranded from SE. Stable firmware so far not had any issues at all .

Flashed to the new firmware last week and I'm far from impressed. Charged the phone last night, didn't turn it on whilst it was charging, and left it off till this afternoon. I've sent one text message, and the battery is showing 77% after being switched on for two hours. No bluetooth on, no 3G, no wifi.

I'm also having a few issues with text messages now too, the predictive text is messing up. If I try to type 'I'll' I end up with 'H'll' and I have to then manually input the 'I''.

Gonna reflash it now.
