Resetting the BIOS would get rid of the password, not Pointsec. Booting into Windows is out out the picture. Booting from a Live disc isn't possible since the X61 does not have a built-in CD drive.

I understand taking the HDD and formatting it, that's no issue, my issue then lies with BIOS.. being a Lenovo X61, it would appear that removing the bios battery doesn't reset the bios as it's stored in an amtel chip and the only way to get the password is to basically create a dump file.
Or am I going nuts here? resetting the bios is fine but apparently removing the battery doesn't do it?

Afaik on newer thinkpads like the X61 there are 2 ways to remove the BIOS password. One involves soldering and a prom programmer and the other option is to get a new motherboard.
