w980i should be better than w960i because its battery life is so more!
But then, w960i has to be better because, its screen size is .4" bigger than w980i!!!!! What do you have to say?

everything in this life has its time and place. mobile phones used to be not as accessible as now. everybody can get hold of more than one phone now. we gotta face that the phones' performance has got a lot better than years back. battery is not an issue to discuss these days.
mobiles phones are in an era where the internet mobile, wireless connectivity and freedom rule. we're not guilty that this forum welcomes everyone but keep the good vibe it's had all this time.

I don't agree with that at all! Maybe the battery issue is now even more important, because mobile phone is basically a small computer and need a lot of energy. So the battery must be better and better to handle with that.
And as you can read from posts, people still talking about battery.
For me I add some other important issuses. The one big problem of nowadays phones: they are so damned glossy! They look elegant only when you open the box. I don't understand that. So I am glad if some phones have fingerprint and grease resistant surface.
And also I wait when there will be again mobile phones with matt glass display. Some high end laptops have also matt glass display and it's still vivid enough. (I have talked about in one other forum). Mobile phone is not a mirror you only look at wall!
Like in good old days the weight and dimensions are also very important for me. Mobile phones should weight less than 100 g and better than 90 g. The size of T68i is very good. And the shape of T68i! It's still the best one in the world! Why almost all other phones of these days are so bulky?!
In good old days people talked also about reception capapility. Sure the networks are much better now but there are still a lot of bad coverage areas. And when you travel you might find no network coverage at all. If you locate in the edge of bad coverage area, the reception capability is very important. (I praise my K610i: it has been logged in to network, when some othe phones could not done that)
And one very important issue that people have forget about. The phone's capability to work in different frequencyes and systems! I guess that many young people even don't know about that. It was great news when there were first two-band GSM phones: GSM 900 / 1800. Then Motorola added Timeport, the true world phone: GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900...
Now there are a few phones which support 7 (!) differents frequencyes / systems. Like K850i: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 + WCDMA 850 / 1900 / 2100!
Many people even don't think about it. It's a pity because this kind capability is very important especially if you like to travel. Some years ago people travelled from Europe to USA with GSM 900/1800 phones and in USA they were badly surprised when their phone did not find the network.
Ok. I finish at the moment. Please excuse my bad English.

You know, frequencies is a thing to talk about. There are a lot of phones who lack quadband, specially in 3g mode. See my p990. It's an UMTS phone, but only in the 2100 frequency, which is not available here in DR but edge.
When i said that battery wasnt a thing to discuss i meant that things like camera sensors, audio/video formats supported, gps, wifi, etc are the things that we usually talk about these days.
Most of the forums members are from children, teens and young adults to adults and full grown up adults. The majority is children and teens that spend more time at home and have the possibility to keep their phones charged.
Maybe am wrong in the last part though.

10 years later we'll talk about the good ol days when people talked about mega pixels and the number of colors the screen supports, ah the simple times!

I agree about the battery issue, it seems mobile phones have moved on in leaps and bounds but apart from widespread use of Li-Ion technology, battery technology hasn't moved on much so I'd say it is still worthy of discussion. My old N95 couldn't go a day without a charge if I used it even moderately. I miss the days of going a week between charges!
It is a shame some of these old topics for discussion aren't talked about more as they're still relevant. Reception quality still is an issue - not for making calls but 3G/HSDPA reception for using the mobile internet, and size I guess is as some phones/'multimedia computers' seem to be becoming dirty great bricks, not much smaller than those of the late '90s (though of course much better functionality wise

).
People do seem a little obsessed with camera megapixels (Which annoys me as megapixel count is NOT linked to image quality) or what version of the Walkman player a phone has. These are perhaps important in their own right, but how good are they if you can only take a few pictures or listen to a few tracks before you get the low battery warning, or you can't blog/upload your latest pic to Facebook without it taking ages because you can't get an HSDPA signal?

But what about the shape / design of mobile phone. Are you used to this nowadays similar shape? I mean, almost all phones look like a (small) brick. In my opinion the title "Best shape mobile phones ever have had" belongs to T68. It's very beautiful!
I really hope that one day SE will decide to release one new mobile phone based on the look of elegant Ericsson T68 / Sony Ericsson T68i.
