I admit I hate nokias although my last nokia was a 3310. They are all ugly and I also don't like their GUI. Till now I've never seen a beautiful nokia phone.

That's exactly the thing with Nokia phones. They are indeed higher specced than SE offerings but they are also too complicated that even advanced users sometimes find them not as user-friendly as they should be.
To add insult to injury, where I live most people buy phones simply because they think Nokia is reliable and has better aftersales service, or for purely fashion/show-off reasons. Which means all those features and customizability of S40/S60 go further into the dustbin for these so-called 'idiot users'. E90 is a hot sellout in my country and guess what? Their owners use them only for calls and the occasional texting. They like it because everybody knows it's expensive and can make them looking effing rich (where I live people can't buy phones on contract; we always have to buy them in bulk and SIM-free). If that's not shite then I don't know what it is.

Yeah imho

phones are far simplier compared to nokia... The interface is user friendly and many things are made easy to do while in Nokia phones you have to torture yourself a bit until you find something.

Marty your experience is exactly why i moved back from my N82 to the C905.
I had the K850i and after many problems decided to move over to a Nokia, not owning one for about 6 years - previously all SE phones I have had.
I really liked the N82, it looks great and really professional and while it may be my personal preference it did prefer the silver to black.
The S60 interface takes a while to get used to but it is good, it's open source so you can add all manner of programs but I never really used to to it's full extent.
But eventually I moved back to SE, just as you stated once you get rid of your SE you do tend to miss the little things that SE offer esp in the user interface:
1. Photo viewer - spot in Marty, the S60 photo viewer is awful. You can only "slide" through the photos and can't view the whole list of thumbnails. I tried to find a 3rd party piece of software but there wasn't much around. SE photoviewer and many other phones are far better than the S60 one.
2. Text messaging - Really like the SE (and other phones) feature that allows to you "bookmark" recently used texts. It saves an awful lot of time. N82 didn't have this. Also I do like the SE feature that shows you the name of the text sender on the main screen before you open it. I know this is minor and I did live without it on the N82 but it is a nice touch.
3. Organiser/PIM function - This was a real disappointment on the S60. No file code vault (which I use all the time), notes section was poor and you couldn't even copy appointments (which is pretty basic), for a smartphone this was probably the worst part of the phone and miles behind SE.
4. Camera filenames - whilst logically this made sense naming the filenames after the date it made it a nightmare transferring them on my computer named 200807011 - they all went out of order. The SE DSC format is much easer to use.
On the plus side the camera was very good, lovely sharpness and saturation, although I did notice that the camera was hit and miss. It had a tendency in low light to blur sections of the image esp landscape shots and areas of detail. Overall this wasn't a major problem. In my opinion the C905 cam is slightly better although the N82 image was slightly sharper.
The screen was also a bit disappointing. It was big but far to dull (backlight) even on the highest setting it didn't seem bright enough. The C905 screen is a really eye-burner but great to use.
I really liked the N82 as a phone but living with SE for so long just made me realise how you miss the little things on SE and ultimately when the C905 came out I upgraded to that.
Don't get my wrong the C905 isn't perfect either (scratched keys, slider, ect) but for me the SE interface is a very rounded package and although not open source like S60 is a really fully featured interface which I think not a lot of people realise.

Yes it's true. For all the fuss people make over S60's open-source framework, pretty much everything I needed was in the

, and most importantly, in the place I needed it to be. It was such a logical layout. I often find with the N82 I have to really search to find options, or it takes many, many more key presses to get me there.
It seems like such a waste of a system really. All the people I know who have S60 phones, only use them to call and text. They have no clue whatsoever about it's potential. And I'm willing to bet, that goes for most S60 owners in general. For the average user, it is actually less functional than the

interface, so where is the advantage?
