the prev bloke has also gone and put gloss paint on the wall where my gas fire is would I have to strip this off before I could put paint on?
if it is white, it will be fine if you have a good paint
the B&Q colours range is very good, and gives very good coverage. the paint always turns out much darker than it seems in the tub tho

... so get some testers
you should see the state of my room in our new house. my walls have been painted with a blue gloss by the previous owners
its also a good idea to put down masking tape on the borders and celling when painting, it looks a whole lot neater once you're done

And once you start a wall, don't stop at any costs, until you've finished it!
If you do, you may find areas where a dry layer has been overlapped so it's an uneven surface.
Get yourself fully prepped for each wall, so you're not running about opening tins, pouring into trays and mixing paints, and you'll have something which looks good for years to come.
And use a small roller
Works well.

ditto for the small roller
also dont skimp on the paint for the roof, B&Q value paint wasn't one of our best purchases

lol Masking tape is so shite tape a edge up and pull it up and you have more of the other colour you didn't want,
ive been using card it's more practical,
the skirten boards are a pain inda arse I gotta admit Gloss paint is such a bloomin knightmare
btw I might be having my Gas fire taken out so when the council plaster it I may be cheeky and ask them to do the whole wall then that Gloss wall is outta my face, if not though ive borrowed a sander ive been running it over to take the shine outta the paint as it's white gloss then thats great to no I can just use a decent paint over it after ive Filled in all the holes lol
My walls are in such a state everywhere,
my flats the poly filler pit
btw ive finished the sitting room so time to move onto
that DDDreaded Kitchen
is there anyway to remove that Artex crap guys???
Ps, ive bought all my paint from Focus!

ooooo Artex is a flaming nightmare and hard work to get rid!! only way is to sand right back to get rid of the knobbly bits! some kind soul had done it to the bathroom ceiling in our house! thought it a great idea to make 1 inch stipples! so you can imagine what a nightmare it was to get rid!

Ive just read that Artex contains abestos is this right??!
my kitchen has it up the walls in patches but not the whole walls,
the ceilings have it and where the council have ripped something out ive got 2 squares missing in the corner probaly where a Kitchen cupboard used to be,
im not bothered about in on the ceiling tbh I just want it off the walls cos it looks minging, the previous tenant needs to be shot for placing that kak up the walls like that
I might buy a Chisel and hammer it off, or try my mates electric sander,
im not so keen on this now since abestos is in the stuff !

just had a word with my hubby and he says it depends on how old the Artex is as some of the older Artex does contain Asbestos but the newer stuff does'nt, you should get the council to check as by law if it does They have to remove it! not you
dont panic! hubby just told me its not dangerous if in Artex as its sealed in anyway...stupid hubby never explains himself till after the event lol
