Hello: I am a P1i user that's been looking for the latest firmware update and read from you that it's already out. Would you point to me the direction of where it is?

Welcome to Esato!

The last firmware is already out and you can find it on SEUS.
Here is a site with a CDA list and firmware versions.

Thank you, Maratonmannen: My question is actually more indepth than what it appears, for I don't know where the firmware is located and how to "flash" my phone.

My current firmware:

Phone: CXC162037 R9J005
Bluetooth: CXC162143 R1D
Organizer: CXC162108 R6F41
CDA: CDA162024/52 R6A

Please advise on where (a link, possibly) to download the firmware and directions to flash it. Also, if there are any precautions I should take before updating firmware, please let me know. This is my 2nd P1i as I lost my first one. The firmware is different and I couldn't "restore" the lost P1i information to the new P1i; restoration error message was in line of "incompatible phone model" even though both phones have the same "name", per se. Help where I am needed, please.

Thank you and have a blessed day.

Yeah SEUS always does the trick for flashing and updating smartphones (UIQ ).

Anyway, I also think that the latest one available on SEUS atm is stable and reliable firmware. I was using a P1 before my G900. Running always on latest firmware of course... It newer showed me any kind of weakness or serious bugs with the software.

SEUS is Sony Ericsson Update Service. A program developed by Sony Ericsson. Official tool for updating and reflashing phone software (firmware) no matter which phone model you have.

You can find it on www.sonyericsson.com... It is used to update your phone's firmware without using any 3rd party software. If done properly, it also wouldn't avoid your phone warranty so you should feel free to use it.

I have tested it with many different phones, including the P1 and it seems to be best for dealing with software issues with UIQ phones like the P1, G900 and etc...

P.S. Good luck using it.

strizlow800:

Thank you for taking the time to help me. I successfully updated the P1i and it was astonishingly easy and smooth. I even was successful in restoring the data from the LOST P1i to the NEW one. Even that process went smoothly (despite a false error that would have indicated the data were not transferred but did).

My next project is to update the OEM silver (and dented) fascia with a gold aftermarket counterpart.

Thank you again and have a blessed day.

I used to have that on mine and a 16gig mem card, and hacked it big style even the network operator, took it in to a S/E repair shop one time and the guy had to do a double take on what it was!
