I don't think so... omniaHD is announced to be running s60 5th, while SE reps are saying idou is SF based.
btw. why is idou being discussed in the kokura thread? yet we have this dedicated thread? aren't those names different?
Ha Ha ha ha ... what the heck would

reps know about Symbian?!
surely SF is S60 they have NO competition any longer. That IS funny! BTW I wouldnt get too excited about IDOU just yet

have a way of managing to delay phones far more effectively than railtrack can delay trains!!!!!!!!

Long anticipation period = More threads like this = More hype = Better sales when the thing's eventually released = Greater return on the manufacturer's investment = Happy shareholders.....
It's called buisiness..

Surely Samsung's Omnia HD (to be released in two months) is already competing heavily? Ok it's an 8MP rather than 12, but the screen seems better, and it's pretty much identical in every other way, isn't it?

Right now we still don't know what the Idou is really capable of. While the Omnia HD is essentially an advanced version of Pixon.

That's more of a worry for the Idou though really - Samsung have demoed a fully rounded, complete Symbian touch interface running on great hardware while SE.. haven't, basically. They've shown what looks like quite a similar phone, based on the same OS, but running only a few unfinished screens.
Should anyone wait till the end of the year for the Idou to be finished if they can get the OmniaHD in a couple of months?

Hardware-wise it seems like the Idou can cope, but I'd like to see how the OS is implemented in the retail version.

Because

could not organise an orgy in a brothel, that's why some are going to wait and wait and wait and wait! Whilst others buy better devices from companies that have not forgotten that customers want imaginative devices with fully tested working software that are not outdated when the customer final gets them!
Hmm what version of WM does the X1 use? and just in time for the new version to be released

just do not help themselves do they

It appears this little beast is developed in Tokyo (source: Todd Culos, product manager at SE in an interview with a Swedish finance magazine).
