In no particular order:

Nokia 5110 (pre 2000) - it had changeable covers and about 30 ringtones. Everybody I knew either had one or wanted one (I badly wanted one but had an anologue phone on contract instead ).

Apple iPhone 3G - redefined what a mobile device should be. Redefined the entire Mobile Phone Industry as well and the repercussions are still coming.

SE W900i - The buzz on Esato when this came out was huge. Very rare and I still haven't heard a bad word said about it.

Motorola V3 - the first really thin phone. So good even Moto couldn't match it.

N95 1GB - Undisputed best phone in the world when it came out and kicked K850i's butt all the way down the street and back (unfortunately). Still 'up there' two years later.

Honorable mention:
Ericsson T28/T39 (2000ish) - Small and stylish and the flip was pure class.

I'm not sure about the iPhone 3G part. I do admit though, that it still has the best touchscreen on any phone on the market and it's somewhat easy to use, but that's all there is to it. The features weren't the best when it came out, but I'd say it has the best touchscreen on any phones.
