BUT, those two computers will probably run at the same speed, despite the differences on paper. OS X is light and fast, and will be 12 months down the line, when the Windows PC has a bloated registry and gives you nervous eye-twitch.

that really comes down to what you want to use it for. but still, you cant go wrong with twice the RAM and twice the number of cores, and twice the HD space, and maybe 10 times better video card

Not everybody likes OSX, don't forget! And not everybody has the expertise or inclination to go dual-booting or running emulators for non-OSX applications.

If Windows really is that bad then why is it so popular? Linux has been a viable (and arguably better) alternative for the average non-technical, non-gaming PC user for years yet windows is still the manufacturer's OS of choice. For most people, it's easy enough, fast enough and reliable enough for what they need to do on a day to day basis.

And in this case it's 300 Euros cheaper!

The Mac will give you instant cool-points.
More seriously though - it all comes down to what you prefer. Ignore the spec sheet just this once, and try out a Mac in an Apple Store.
As Cyco said, and I agree, OS X isn't to everyone's tastes, but as far as I'm concerned, is the superior OS when compared to Windows Vista.
You won't know how you lived without OS X. I switched a year ago, and genuinely find Windows a crap experience. And I'm not an Apple fanboy - I bought it because Windows was a problem my life could do without. Maintenance, Microsoft's forceful updates, viruses and everything that comes with Windows isn't on Mac.

And @Cyco - because everyone just got used to it + pre-installing Windows on PCs means $$$ from MS for them. Those "[insert company name here] recommends Vista Home Premium" bits you see on ads pretty much mean free advertising for manufacturers. Something Linux isn't capable of.

Manufacturers don't actually get paid for putting Windows on, they just buy it quite a bit cheaper in bulk which improves their profit margins. That's why we're starting to see an increase in Linux boxes lately, Vista is expensive and rather unpopular!

As for 'just being used to windows', yes I agree with that to an extent. Although many of the customers from my PC repair days wouldn't actually notice the difference between OS X, Windows and Linux. They'd just think it looks a bit different to how it was before...

And cool points? Awww, c'mon! It's a laptop for goodness sake!

You know it's true. A sad truth, though.
We have Apple's marketing genius to thank for that. They get into your head.

I had a little test on the OS X and I can tell I really like it.
As I said I will not use any of the PC-s for gaming. I just want quick browsing( i have great internet package but i can't use it's full potential on my present PC)
and I want as soon as I click on ANY installed software to open instantly. I will be using the PC for flashing and those sort of stuff
Also I will have windows installed on it TOO.
But on the other hand the other PC has QUAD CORE.
As for the ram i will put more ram on the laptop but i can't put quad core.
And i have an offer instead of X3100 to be with NVIDIA GeForce 9400M.

I run a 2.4GHz iMac with 2GB RAM with no problems. Everything is either instant, or takes 3-4 secs max. Which isn't too bad, because you watch the dock icon bounce while it's loading.
