Wi Fi networks are nowhere near as prevalent as gsm, plus, as Greggy says, its easier to make a normal gsm call than it is to remember to start up Skype.

Lots of customers are already tied into 12 - 18 month mobile internet, mobile broadband and phone contracts anyway so its just adding value in my eyes and thats the way the networks should see it - until they see it as a threat to their millions.

Most people with a contract are already paying a monthly bill as well as forked out for the cost of the phone - some contracts add up to hundreds of pounds so its hardly something for nothing really is it?

The operators have and will always squeeze as much money from their customer as they can so its only right that the consumer should do likewise. Skype calls add value - its not something for nothing.
