Exactly, I can't keep my phones for any more than 9 months at the very most, so upgrades don't mean anything other than a bit of money each year to me really.

As for 'power users' I agree to a cetain extent, but the people we get coming in who want those features tend to have done a 'bit' of research online (read: poking about aimlessly on forums ) and assume they know what they want based on the first review they read, but really they don't. It's a case of steering them towards a phone that has the features they're actually going to use.

Just for the record, I don't believe in 'hard sell'. We get slightly more 'commission' of sorts for certain handsets, but it doesn't bother me, I sell what they really want, I'd rather see people get a good phone and not a turd

Good man!

OT but when I walk past my local Voda shop they have someone waiting inside the door to 'greet' people as they walk in - standing there like a Sentry officer on duty. It makes you think twice about venturing in anyway.

24 months contracts are a joke. Who would wanna be stuck with same phone for that long or worse still a faulty phone for that long. The iphone is not worth a 24 month commitment.

I can get £20 off any pay and go phone with o2 or 30% off ANY contract including the iphone.

does this make it a better deal? it can be used in any o2 store

I'm on a 24months contract currently and its ending in december.
i consider buying a new phone every year as "simply not worth it". these small (cam, software) upgrades don't make me put another 300euros onto the table. technology wise it makes more sense to wait 2 years, cause the hardware jump is larger...and you get better tarifs.
i'm looking forward to december, palm pre / Idou here i come.
it also makes a difference when you buy it sim free, here in austria you get alot of "financial support" from your provider if you just take the sim - especially during christmas.

@MissUK: Not always true on the warranty front, they're only covered by a 24-month warranty by the network IF the manufacturer supports it. For example, ALL Blackberry's and ALL iPhones only carry a 12-month warranty, which is annoying...

@golemsmate: Lol, you tell me, is it a better deal? Just do the cost of an iPhone contract minus 30% and you'll have your answer

That's through your work I'm guessing? O2 have like 120 companies they give discount to employees to, it's called O2 Open (used to be Open Affinity), quite handy and very similar to our own staff plans.

Honestly? Absolutely no idea, these things happen a couple of days after we find out, so I know nothing as of yet.
