get some Jays s-jays rather than the cx300. if your a Costco member, you can get em about 30gbp.
or can be found cheap on ebay or amazon.

@>500 seems to know what he's talking about when it comes to cans, taking in to consideration from a post from another thread somewhere (cant remember where!)
But all good recommendations from everyone here.
Just remember to be very careful when using eBay AND Amazon Marketplace if you're looking at Sennheiser or Bose, find out the actual RRP of the product and then compare - if the deal sounds too good to be true, it normally is.
I chanced my luck with some Sennheiser CX500's from Amazon Marketplace last year, got em for about £38 inc del which was about £12 cheaper than the RRP back then, some on eBay were going for silly money like £18..so it's easy to tell they're fake. Just make you get assurances from the seller beforehand if you're unsure, and a refund if you're not happy. Easy to tell fakes if they sound tinny and hollow.. Sennheiser's should sound bassy and full.
Good luck!

Yeah...and the CX500's I got from him a year+ ago ain't fake either...and they have a great balanced sound(as long as they're PROPERLY in your ear, otherwise they're awful!), for my rave-hardened lobes anyway......
Would love some Shures(E4C's, or something newer now??), three-figure prices soon stop you though......

Hmmm would be careful of Amazon too - to be honest, it'd be crazy to get Bose 'phones for less than retail price, unless they're from a reputable retailer!
Dont get stung with a nasty fake pair - in regards to the headphones, they're an amazing set, great sound et all!
I know the Bose store in FreePort, BrainTree in Essex sell them at less than retail price

take note the jays s-jays are a bass targeted earphone. they are one of the first earphone utilising a new type of 'siren' armature. From the reviews ive read, they produce deep/clear bass and an ok midrange. they sound quite ok for the price.
@ryan,
was probably in the sony bites back thread
@voda_jon
personally, i wouldnt buy any skull candy's

unless i got them for snowboarding. but thats just me

Yeah, they have to be properly inserted in your ear for maximum effect.. otherwise as you say they sound naff. I always find a quick moisten before positioning them in your ear helps to make them stay in there too.
As for the Shures, I personally dont like the way they look like big marbles sticking out of your ear! I'm Shure (pun intended) the sound quality makes up for though. There’s supposedly some weird way that you’re meant to wrap the cables up and around your ears to make them fit right.. doesn’t sound to comfortable to me!

Yep that was it
@golemsmate If you are looking for a cheapish pair I would probably discount Bose off your list tbh as you’d be looking at the £100 mark I would’ve thought

@Aware
almost forgot i sold them to you
and you need a good seal no matter what in ear 'phones you are using, otherwise you will just get tinny sound (obviously)
regarding the Bose in earphones, they arent too flash hot, many reviews seem to agree too. I mean im all for Bose home audio, but steer clear from their earphones.

Hmmm,
I would disagree there - although yes, I would not pay Retail for them, when I can get a set of SEMC ones (BT Enabled etc)....!
I have a pair, and they're actually rather good

Pay as much as you can, and make sure the set you go for are targeted at the style of music you listen too, the physical size of the drivers is more important than the range quoted on the pack, and check out the fittings and wires, as many great units have fragile connectors and plugs, making them easy to break.
The next best thing you can do is to get some custom made ear sleeves, or better still some inserts.
They are about £80, and are the single best way to dramatically improve the sound of in ear headphones.
